Apple App Store Screenshot Sizes for Every iPhone and iPad Display

Apple's current screenshot page groups iPhone and iPad devices into display-size sections. Build around accepted portrait dimensions, reverse width and height for landscape, and understand the documented scaling fallback before deciding how many native sets to prepare.

iPhone 6.9, 6.5, 6.3, and 6.1 inches

The 6.9-inch display accepts 1260×2736, 1290×2796, or 1320×2868. The 6.5-inch display accepts 1284×2778 or 1242×2688. The 6.3-inch display accepts 1179×2556 or 1206×2622. The 6.1-inch display accepts 1170×2532, 1125×2436, or 1080×2340. For landscape, reverse each pair. Apple says 6.5-inch screenshots are required when an iPhone app does not provide 6.9-inch screenshots; 6.3-inch and 6.1-inch displays use scaled 6.5-inch screenshots when their accepted sizes are not provided.

  1. Choose the 6.9-inch size that matches the source capture you can export reliably.
  2. Prepare a 6.5-inch set when the app runs on iPhone and 6.9-inch screenshots are not supplied.
  3. Check both width and height after rotating any landscape composition.

Older iPhone display sections

Apple lists 1242×2208 for the 5.5-inch display and 750×1334 for the 4.7-inch display. The 4-inch display accepts 640×1096 without a status bar or 640×1136 with a status bar. The 3.5-inch display accepts 640×920 without a status bar or 640×960 with a status bar. If these sections are not supplied, Apple's documented fallbacks scale from 6.1-inch to 5.5-inch, 5.5-inch to 4.7-inch, 4.7-inch to 4-inch, and 4-inch to 3.5-inch.

  1. Keep the status-bar choice consistent with the dimensions you selected.
  2. Use the documented fallback chain when a legacy native composition is not part of the release plan.
  3. Inspect small-display fallbacks for clipped captions and unreadable product UI.

iPad 13, 12.9, 11, 10.5, and 9.7 inches

The 13-inch iPad display accepts 2064×2752 or 2048×2732 and is required when the app runs on iPad. The 12.9-inch display accepts 2048×2732. The 11-inch display accepts 1488×2266, 1668×2420, 1668×2388, or 1640×2360. The 10.5-inch display accepts 1668×2224. The 9.7-inch display accepts 1536×2008 or 768×1004 without a status bar, and 1536×2048 or 768×1024 with a status bar. Apple documents scaling from 13-inch to 12.9-inch and 11-inch, from 12.9-inch to 10.5-inch, and from 10.5-inch to 9.7-inch when those native sizes are not provided.

  1. Prepare the 13-inch set when the app runs on iPad.
  2. Choose portrait or landscape intentionally; the landscape dimensions are the reversed pairs.
  3. Review the iPad composition separately because a phone caption hierarchy may not fit the wider frame.

What happens when you provide fewer display sets

Apple's specifications say you can upload one to 10 screenshots per set; they do not require a separate upload for every display section listed on the page. When a smaller display's accepted sizes are not provided, Apple uses the larger display class named in its fallback note. Supplying a native size remains useful when a scaled image would make the crop, caption, or product interface harder to read.

  1. Start with the largest required iPhone and iPad display sets for the platforms your app supports.
  2. Add native legacy sizes only when their composition needs a different crop or hierarchy.
  3. Preview the fallback results before assuming the scaled files are readable.
